Human Resources
Human Resources brings together found imagery and image-artifacts. The prints in this series are made from found color negatives that depict Wal-Mart employees from 1986. The banal portraits provided a corporate likeness of the individuals. Through photographic toning and paper surface manipulation, these previously uniform and sterile portraits change to unique image-objects. The disfigurement in these prints serves to remind the viewer that photographs have a materiality that can carry the injuries of time. These injuries accumulate as the picture transition from one context to another through its life.
